The Best Books I’m Rereading/Listening to in 2020 to Get Inspired
Being a mom to two tiny kids, who are home all day (and bored a lot of the time) during a pandemic, while I’m also working at home in the same home office as my husband, while also trying to remain an inspired and energetic person is really really hard (and that’s an understatement).
No amount of evening walks, waving to your neighbors (from at least 6 feet away), and phone calls with friends you used to actually see in person can quite replicate the simple joy of making plans with friends and being around people in general.
It’s August 2020 and people are feeling ‘blah,’ and I keep experimenting to find new ways to build in moments of ‘me time’ and inspiration during a generally uninspiring time.
Something that has brought effortless inspiration to my life lately is listening to my old favorite books about happiness (yes, listening to them- but I look forward to the day I can actually sit down to reread them!). To be perfectly honest, I revisited the ‘Great Reads’ page of my own website to get ideas, and those old recommendations were just the pick me up I needed.
My top 3 that I’ve been listening to on Audible are:

I combine my evening walk and late night snack (after the kids go to bed) with about a half hour or more of listening to an uplifting book, and it really does wonders. Time moves slowly, I can appreciate the nature around me, and I tend to just get really happy listening to these books, and that joy flows into other parts of my life as well. I go to bed less anxious, wake up happier, I’m more present and energized around loved ones, and I notice it being reflected back to me.
For me, this isn’t a time for major life changes or goal-setting, I just wanted some simple inspiration, and I think that’s what so many people might be in need of right now.
